First Federal Savings and Loan in Alpena was founded in 1957 by eleven community leaders who were willing to risk their own savings to provide residents of Northeast Michigan with a safe and convenient place to save their money and to borrow money for the purchase, repair or modernization of residential property.

Now known as First Federal of Northern Michigan, we continue to add new products and services to meet the needs of our communities. Through our branch network, we offer consumer, mortgage and commercial lending along with insurance and non-insured investment products through our subsidiary, the InsuranCenter of Alpena.

First Federal has seven full-service offices located in Northern Michigan - in Alpena, the Main Office on Second Avenue, and a branch office on Ripley Boulevard, Alanson, Cheboygan, Gaylord, Lewiston, Mio and Oscoda. All of our offices are designed with customer service in mind. Comfortable private offices are provided for all Loan Officers. We have drive-thru facilities and night depository boxes at most locations. All the offices have ATMs. The Alpena (Main), Mio, Cheboygan, Lewiston and Gaylord offices have safety deposit boxes available for our customer's convenience.
